Metallurgical Engineer – Lead Quality Investigations

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Metallurgical Engineer to join our Quality team. In this pivotal position you will lead investigations into production issues, qualification failures, and field returns, ensuring material integrity across our engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead metallurgical investigations for production problems, qualification failures, field returns, and aircraft accident investigations.
• Perform comprehensive testing including fractography, microstructure evaluation, chemical analysis, and mechanical testing (tensile, Charpy impact, fatigue).
• Own special processes such as heat‑treatment cycle development and optimization, and support surface‑coating processes.
• Develop and maintain NDT and welding qualifications and procedures to meet industry and safety standards.
• Execute and maintain design and process risk assessments, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to define corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 2‑3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with several years in a metallurgical role.
• Preferred NDT Level III certification.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgical testing equipment, software, and failure‑analysis techniques.
