Men's Cancer Support Group Facilitator (1099 Contractor)

About the role

The Cancer Support Community in Washington, DC seeks a licensed mental health professional to facilitate a men’s cancer support group on a 1099 contractor basis. The role blends virtual, in‑person, and hybrid formats to create a safe space for participants navigating cancer.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate virtual, in‑person, or hybrid support groups using Zoom and CSC DC methodology.
• Foster a supportive environment that encourages members to share experiences, reduce isolation, and enhance quality of life.
• Lead educational workshops and special events, introduce speakers, and gather participant feedback.
• Participate in orientation, training, and monthly facilitator meetings; complete required documentation and reports.
• Provide one‑on‑one communication with participants as needed and support administrative tasks assigned by the Program Director.

Required profile

• Active Master’s‑level licensure in a mental health profession (Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology) in DC at hire; licensure in MD and VA preferred.
• Proof of professional liability insurance.
• 1–3 years of experience facilitating support groups.
• Commitment to CSC’s psychosocial support methods and therapeutic community approach.
• Experience working with individuals facing serious or chronic illness, preferably oncology.
