Medical Physicist – Radiation Oncology (Full‑Time)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Clinical Medical Physicist to provide radiation physics support for cancer patients and other diseases requiring radiation therapy. The role involves treatment planning, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with the clinical team.

Key responsibilities

• Participates in patient treatment planning and verifies that prescribed doses are delivered.
• Conducts quality‑ assurance measurements, calibrations, and safety checks for linear accelerators, simulators and other radiation‑producing machines.
• Performs patient‑specific dose measurements, including IMRT QA and in‑vivo dosimetry.
• Assists with special procedures such as stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiation therapy, total body and total skin irradiation.
• Reviews performance‑improvement records and collaborates with dosimetrists, therapists, and other staff.
• Supports equipment maintenance, repairs, and in‑service activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of clinical medical physics experience, including CT performance evaluations.
• Board certification or eligibility in therapeutic radiological physics (preferred).
• Ability to travel between Ochsner facilities and comply with safety, privacy, and regulatory standards.
