About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II specialized in Microbiology to join its clinical laboratory team. This full‑time position supports diagnostic testing, quality assurance, and patient care within a collaborative health‑care environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform microbiology testing on clinical specimens, including culture, identification, and susceptibility testing.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Document results accurately in the laboratory information system and communicate findings to clinicians.
• Participate in quality control, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and student employees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent).
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
