Medical Billing & Coding Full-Time Instructor

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time instructor to teach Medical Billing and Coding courses at LSUE. The role involves delivering high‑quality classroom instruction, supporting curriculum development, and guiding student success within the Business Technology department.

Key responsibilities

• Teach assigned Medical Billing and Coding courses, develop syllabi, lesson plans, assessments and use appropriate teaching technologies.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading and student records, and provide timely feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues to review and update curriculum, participate in departmental meetings and professional development.
• Offer academic advising, hold regular office hours and respond to student inquiries.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Medical Coding or a related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in medical billing and coding (inpatient and outpatient) and familiarity with revenue cycle management.
• Preferred: Master’s degree and five or more years of relevant experience.
• Must hold at least one certification: CCS, CCS‑P, CPC, RHIA or RHIT.

Required skills

• Proficiency in medical billing and coding processes for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle management.
• Ability to develop curriculum, lesson plans and assessments.
• Effective verbal and written communication for classroom instruction.
