Medical Assistant – Internal Medicine

About the role

The Medical Assistant (MA) will support providers in the Lennar Internal Medicine clinic at the University of Miami. Working under direct supervision of a licensed physician, the MA delivers hands‑on patient care, assists with clinical procedures, and ensures a culturally competent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform multi‑skilled tasks to assist medical providers with patient care.
• Document patient information and clinical observations in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies, adhering to ethical and legal practice standards.
• Collaborate with the Nurse Manager, charge nurse, or designated designee to ensure safe delivery of care.
• Maintain a compassionate, healing environment that respects patients' spiritual beliefs and emotional needs.

Required profile

• Current staff, faculty, or temporary employee of the University of Miami (internal applicants).
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced clinical setting while prioritizing multiple tasks.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of UHealth and the Department of Nursing.

Required skills

• Knowledge of evidence‑based clinical standards and patient safety protocols.
• Proficiency in using clinic technology for documentation and communication.
