Medical Assistant 2 – Full-Time

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of UMMG Ambulatory Clinics is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant 2 to support physicians in a busy outpatient setting. Working under direct supervision, you will help deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies and instruments for each patient visit.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and basic laboratory tests, documenting results in the electronic medical record.
• Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures, ensuring aseptic technique.
• Administer medications as ordered and provide patients with post-visit instructions.
• Transport and escort patients within the clinic and hospital.
• Maintain clean and sterile equipment, manage inventory, and order supplies as needed.
• Schedule patients for diagnostic tests and complete required paperwork.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Demonstrated professionalism, ethical conduct, and ability to respond to emergencies.

• Basic medical terminology.
• EKG acquisition and interpretation.
