Mechanical Process Engineer

About the role

Gerard Daniel Worldwide is seeking a motivated Mechanical Process Engineer to support and enhance our wire‑cloth manufacturing operations in Houston, Texas. The role combines equipment design, process improvement, and hands‑on problem solving to drive product quality, operational efficiency, and plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource for Customer Service and Sales, providing product knowledge and application guidance.
• Design, modify, and improve manufacturing equipment such as crimping machines, punch presses, pneumatic and hydraulic looms, shears, press brakes, and material‑handling systems.
• Create engineering drawings, equipment layouts, and component specifications using CAD software.
• Lead equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and optimization projects.
• Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing challenges affecting quality, efficiency, or throughput.
• Prepare technical documentation, specifications, engineering reports, and operating procedures.
• Participate in customer visits, technical reviews, and problem‑resolution activities as needed.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical engineering background with hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to work directly on the shop floor and solve complex technical issues.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with cross‑functional teams including Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Leadership.
• Ability to evaluate materials and metallurgical properties for process improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software for creating engineering drawings and equipment layouts.
