Mechanical Engineer – Wind Turbine Operations & Maintenance

About the role

ACCIONA Energía is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to enhance the reliability, availability, and performance of utility‑scale wind turbines. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and OEM teams to analyse failures, develop technical solutions, and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for operation and maintenance of wind turbines.
• Analyse mechanical failures and equipment performance to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate turbine operational data, maintenance records, SCADA information, and condition‑monitoring reports to identify trends.
• Support troubleshooting of major mechanical components such as gearboxes, main bearings, shafts, pitch and yaw systems, drivetrains, hydraulic and lubrication systems.
• Develop engineering recommendations, modifications, retrofits and fleet‑wide improvement projects.
• Support preventive, predictive and condition‑based maintenance programmes.
• Collaborate with field technicians, site managers, reliability engineers and OEMs to resolve complex technical issues.
• Review engineering drawings, technical documentation, maintenance procedures and service bulletins.
• Participate in RCA, FMEA and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations for internal stakeholders and customers.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with wind turbine mechanical systems and maintenance strategies.
• Proven ability to conduct root‑cause analysis and reliability engineering.
• Strong commitment to safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
