About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Tempe, AZ team. The role focuses on solving complex mechanical challenges, developing tooling and supporting product development across the company’s advanced equipment portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision.
• Develop, design, and modify mechanical layouts, schematics, and drawings for challenging scopes.
• Perform engineering analysis and generate test reports for complex projects.
• Lead or execute projects, develop key suppliers, and create mechanical product specifications.
• Design and implement custom tooling, fixturing, and associated processes for handling and assembly.
• Specify, review, and maintain engineering documentation and standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–7 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with CAD software and knowledge of thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design, material selection, and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with GD&T, flow analysis, and Design for Excellence principles.
