Mechanical Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of hardware for Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) processes. You will work within cross‑functional teams to generate solutions, perform hands‑on testing, and enable next‑generation semiconductor and display technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Technically lead engineering projects from concept through validation, delivering complete solutions.
• Translate on‑wafer performance requirements into clear mechanical design specifications.
• Identify trade‑offs, assess risks, and select optimal design paths.
• Perform tolerance, thermal, structural, and flow analyses to ensure functional performance.
• Collaborate with internal experts and external suppliers to meet reliability and manufacturability goals.
• Plan and execute structured experiments, analyze data with JMP and Excel, and define design margins.
• Validate designs using first‑principles calculations and simulation tools such as FEA and CFD.
• Create and release engineering documentation in Teamcenter.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with 4–7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in semiconductor equipment design or troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• 3D CAD: Siemens NX, Creo, SolidWorks.
• Engineering analysis: ANSYS, CFD‑ACE, COMSOL.
• Data analysis tools: JMP, Microsoft Excel.
• Simulation: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
• Product data management: Teamcenter.
