Mechanical Engineer – Power Generation

About the role

PacifiCorp is looking for a customer‑centric Mechanical Engineer to provide daily boiler, performance, and general mechanical support to its power generation assets. The role involves both capital and operations‑and‑maintenance (O&M) projects, ensuring plant reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the day‑to‑day mechanical engineer and project manager for capital and O&M projects.
• Analyze system design, programming, and modifications; troubleshoot operational challenges.
• Develop limited‑scope studies, cost estimations, and performance assessments.
• Run equipment tests, install and inspect new equipment, and conduct site inspections.
• Serve as the plant’s Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) and support environmental systems such as scrubbers and precipitators.
• Manage capital budgets and oversee external engineering services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in power plant or industrial mechanical engineering.
• Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) credential preferred.
• Ability to lead small teams and mentor junior engineers.
