Mechanical Engineer IV (EPI)

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of custom mechanical tooling and processes for semiconductor and display equipment. You will apply deep knowledge of physics, mathematics, and materials science to solve complex mechanical challenges throughout the product life cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot a wide range of complex mechanical problems with limited supervision.
• Lead or execute engineering projects, including development of key suppliers.
• Design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes.
• Oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• 7–10 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Subject‑matter expertise with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis, and Design for Excellence principles.
