Mechanical Engineer IV – Advanced Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a Mechanical Engineer IV to design, develop, and modify mechanical tooling and processes for semiconductor and display equipment. You will apply physics, mathematics, and materials science to solve complex mechanical challenges throughout the product life cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical problems with minimal supervision.
• Lead engineering projects, develop key suppliers, and create detailed engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications.
• Design and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and processes for handling, assembly, and disassembly of components.
• Coordinate procurement, assembly, and testing of mechanical components, generating product specifications and engineering test reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 7‑10 years of relevant experience.
• Subject‑matter expertise in CAD, thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis, and Design for Excellence principles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software (preferably Siemens NX).
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design, and material selection.
• Experience with manufacturing methods, GD&T, and flow analysis.
• Fundamental understanding of engineering mechanics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics.
• Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and Design for Excellence.
