Mechanical Engineer II – Marine Propeller Development

About the role

Yamaha is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join its Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. You will lead the design and development of marine propellers for outboard engines, applying advanced hydrodynamic and structural analysis techniques from concept through production.

Key responsibilities

• Design marine propellers using hydrodynamics, structural mechanics, and manufacturability considerations.
• Plan and coordinate on‑water testing and evaluation from proof of concept to production.
• Develop and implement advanced CAE processes for marine product design.
• Perform FEA and CFD analyses to support cross‑functional product development.
• Learn established development processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Marine Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience designing consumer or industrial products; marine industry experience preferred.
• Proven ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel to Japan, suppliers, and testing sites as needed.

Required skills

• FEA and CFD analysis.
• NX Nastran and STAR‑CCM+ (preferred).
• 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, CAESES.
• Programming in Matlab, C, C++, Python.
• Experience with formal optimization techniques (preferred).
