Mechanical Engineer – High‑Performance Interconnects

About the role

Mechanical Engineer at Cornelis Networks, focusing on mechanical architecture and hardware development for high‑performance interconnect platforms such as adapters and switches.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of PCIe adapters, networking switches, and complex electronic assemblies.
• Drive products through NPI lifecycle from architecture and EVT/DVT validation to tooling release and mass production.
• Apply expertise in die casting, sheet metal fabrication, and extrusion to optimize designs for cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Create and manage 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs using PTC Creo and Windchill (or similar CAD/PLM tools).
• Collaborate with thermal, electrical, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to balance mechanical envelopes, structural integrity, and thermal constraints.

Required profile

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years experience in mechanical design of electronics packaging, adapters, or networking hardware.
• Strong knowledge of datacenter form factors (PCIe, OCP 3.0, EIA‑310) and rack‑level integration.
• Deep understanding of volume manufacturing processes such as die casting, sheet metal, and extrusion.
• Proven track record managing global CMs/ODMs, tooling kick‑offs, and factory escalations during volume ramp‑up.
