Mechanical Engineer – Design & Field Support

About the role

FRAC‑Chem is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its corporate engineering team in Lafayette, Louisiana. The role focuses on mechanical design, system integration, and supporting field operations in an industrial‑energy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and support installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment used in frac‑chem operations.
• Create detailed mechanical drawings, layouts, and specifications using SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
• Support mechanical systems that interface with automation and control logic, preferably using Studio 5000.
• Collaborate with operations, automation, manufacturing, and project‑management teams.
• Conduct performance testing, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime.
• Provide technical support during equipment commissioning, startup, and field deployment.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry codes such as ASME, API, and ASTM.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, and reliability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of mechanical engineering experience in chemical, manufacturing, industrial, or energy environments.
• Based in Lafayette or surrounding area and able to work onsite.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (AutoCAD experience a plus).
• RS Logix.
• Studio 5000 or similar PLC programming environment.
• Familiarity with SCADA/industrial automation platforms.
• Knowledge of ASME, API, ASTM standards.
