Mechanical Designer

About the role

Pelican Engineering is seeking a motivated Mechanical Designer to join its consulting team. You will work on diverse projects across energy, manufacturing, defense, healthcare and more, turning concepts into detailed, production‑ready designs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop innovative mechanical designs and practical solutions for a wide range of industries.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D models, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and engineers to capture requirements and deliver compliant solutions.
• Ensure designs meet project specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in all project phases—from concept and feasibility studies to prototyping, testing and final production.
• Provide technical support throughout project execution and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree, technical diploma or equivalent experience in mechanical design or drafting.
• Proven experience in a mechanical design or engineering role.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and teamwork skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).

Required skills

• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
• Strong emphasis on Autodesk Inventor.
