Mechanical Design Engineer – Robotics Hardware

About the role
Meta’s Robotics Hardware team is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of next‑generation robotic systems. You will work on concept creation, analytical modeling, prototype fabrication, and testing in a fast‑paced, high‑ambiguity environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design and analyze mechanical structures, mechanisms, power transmissions, and system integrations for prototype robots.
- Support part fabrication, robot builds, fixture and tooling design, and assembly procedures with internal and external partners.
- Create test fixtures, develop test plans, execute performance testing, analyze results, and refine designs.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, software, and firmware engineers to deliver complete technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures, implement design improvements, and verify effectiveness of changes.
Required profile
- 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering.
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience designing complex electromechanical assemblies (e.g., robotics, automotive, aerospace).
- Hands‑on experience with prototype manufacturing processes and material selection.
- Ability to manage time‑sensitive projects with multiple stakeholders.
Required skills
- Proficiency with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX, or comparable CAD tools.
- Experience in tolerance analysis and GD&T.
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) expertise.
- Knowledge of prototyping manufacturing processes and materials.
