About the role
The Product Design Integration team at Tesla creates the architecture and layout of new energy, robotics, and vehicle products. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will translate system requirements into physical designs, build prototypes, and ensure manufacturability while meeting performance, cost, and reliability targets.
Key responsibilities
- Design and package mechanical components to satisfy product and system level requirements.
- Lead product integration reviews and mediate trade‑off decisions.
- Develop packaging master sections for Class A surface development and feasibility studies.
- Support virtual builds, buck development, physical prototypes, and pre‑series production.
- Maintain top‑level product CAD and BOM, ensuring completeness and compatibility throughout the release process.
Required profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with energy products, high‑voltage battery or robot integration, covering the full product lifecycle from concept to production.
- Strong understanding of design principles for functional product systems.
- Knowledge of part manufacturing processes ranging from circuit boards to large castings.
- Proven problem‑solving ability and strong communication skills.
Required skills
- Mechanical design and packaging.
- 3D CAD modeling (CATIA preferred).
- Product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
- High‑voltage battery integration.
- Robotics integration and packaging.
