Mechanical Design Engineer – Power Distribution

About the role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Maverick Power, you will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to design low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution and control systems for a variety of industries. The role involves creating mechanical designs, 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures for low‑ and medium‑voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and control panels.
• Create and maintain 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and assembly documentation using SOLIDWORKS.
• Generate and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
• Review customer drawings, specifications, one‑line diagrams, and layout drawings to support project design requirements.
• Apply design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability and reduce complexity.
• Support engineering changes and modifications to standard products for project‑specific requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and production personnel to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing, testing, quality, and field service teams.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable UL, ANSI, IEEE, NEC, and customer requirements.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 2–3 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 2–3 years of experience using SOLIDWORKS or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Experience creating mechanical drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
