Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and modify mechanical tooling, layouts, and processes that support the manufacturing of semiconductor and display equipment. The role blends physics, mathematics, and materials science to solve complex mechanical challenges throughout the product life cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision.
• Design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes.
• Produce and maintain engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications for complex scopes.
• Lead or execute projects, develop key suppliers, and generate mechanical product specifications.
• Coordinate procurement, assembly, and installation of mechanical components, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4‑7 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, and flow analysis.
