Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

USA Industries is seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and improve high‑pressure piping products such as hydrostatic test plugs, pipe isolation equipment, and heat‑exchanger accessories. The role spans concept development, design verification, production release, and field implementation, supporting manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and management.

Key responsibilities

• Design new mechanical products and enhance existing piping‑isolation and testing equipment.
• Translate customer and operational requirements into manufacturable 3D models, detailed drawings, assemblies, bills of material, and documentation using SolidWorks.
• Perform mechanical calculations for stress, pressure loading, bolted joints, threads, seals, hydraulics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics.
• Set up, run, and interpret finite element analysis (linear and nonlinear) as needed.
• Select appropriate materials based on strength, corrosion resistance, temperature, pressure, wear, cost, and availability.
• Provide metallurgical guidance on carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, aluminum alloys, welding, brazing, heat treatment, surface treatments, and coatings.
• Develop engineering specifications, test procedures, fixtures, and test equipment to validate product performance.
• Support cross‑functional teams during prototype testing, production release, and field implementation.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in industrial product development, manufacturing, and metallurgy.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material behavior, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with steel and aluminum alloys, stainless steels, welding, brazing, heat treatment, and coating technologies.
• Ability to work from concept through field implementation and act as a technical resource for multiple departments.
