Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Moog is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Mechanical Engineering department in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on designing and packaging spacecraft avionics hardware, from concept through environmental testing, contributing directly to mission readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop spacecraft avionics assemblies using SolidWorks 3D CAD, producing detailed drawings per ASME Y14.5.
• Perform structural and thermal analysis with closed‑form calculations and ANSYS Workbench finite‑element models.
• Document design reviews, analysis results, and generate comprehensive reports.
• Create and execute environmental test plans for vibration, shock, and thermal qualification.
• Provide manufacturing support, resolve integration issues, and manage non‑conformance disposition.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, manufacturing, test, and program management teams to meet schedule, cost, and technical goals.

Required profile

• 2–7 years of mechanical engineering experience with emphasis on design and/or structural analysis.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD design, preferably SolidWorks.
• Hands‑on experience designing mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Experience conducting thermal and structural finite‑element analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
