Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Amazon is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of test fixtures and pallets for its Boston operations. The role will serve as the on‑site subject matter expert, bridging client design teams with an offshore engineering group.

Key responsibilities

• Capture fixture and test‑setup requirements from client engineers.
• Translate requirements into detailed, fabrication‑ready mechanical drawings.
• Collaborate with the India design team, reviewing and iterating designs to meet tight timelines.
• Act as the primary interface between on‑site and offshore teams to minimise communication friction.
• Own end‑to‑end project delivery, from concept through release.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of experience in machine design, R&D, and tooling/fixture development.
• Strong knowledge of material selection, machining, fabrication processes, and post‑processing operations.
• Proven ability to perform structural calculations and select appropriate OEM components (e.g., linear guides, motors, gearboxes, bearings).
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings with GD&T.
• Hands‑on familiarity with UG NX.
