Mechanical Design Engineer – Electronic Enclosures

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will develop and design electronic enclosures for aero‑gas turbine engines. Working in a hybrid model (three days onsite), you will support both local and global Rolls‑Royce engine programs from concept through qualification testing.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with electronics engineering to create enclosures that meet both mechanical and electronic requirements.
• Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D model‑based definitions to support manufacturing and procurement.
• Lead technical/design reviews, prepare presentations and technical reports for customers and project teams.
• Conduct component trade studies, define functional and physical interfaces, and generate analysis requirements for enclosures.
• Ensure compliance with product certification standards such as RTCA/DO‑160 and MIL‑STD‑810.
• Support prototype testing, qualification, and final manufacturing implementation.

Required profile

• Experience designing mechanical enclosures for aerospace or gas‑turbine applications.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams and communicate technical solutions effectively.

Required skills

• 3D modeling and detailed mechanical drawing creation.
• Component trade‑study analysis.
• Knowledge of RTCA/DO‑160 certification requirements.
• Knowledge of MIL‑STD‑810 certification requirements.
• Electronic enclosure design expertise.
