Mechanical Design Engineer – Chassis (Semi)

About the role

The Chassis Design Engineering team at Tesla develops critical systems such as wheels, suspension, brakes and air‑suspension for both passenger cars and the Semi truck. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will take concepts through design, analysis, prototyping, testing and production, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑performance, cost‑effective components.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize component designs using 3D CAD tools and associated CAE analyses.
• Validate manufacturing, assembly and service feasibility and release 2D drawings.
• Perform testing, vehicle‑assembly validation and quality‑control activities.
• Resolve technical issues with engineering, supply‑chain, production and service teams.
• Participate in supplier sourcing, manage engineering relationships and support international travel as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in component design, analysis and validation.
• Ability to work independently, manage projects and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Self‑starter attitude with a track record of delivering projects to schedule.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (CATIA preferred).
• Basic knowledge of GD&T.
• Experience in component design, mechanical analysis and validation.
