Mechanical Design Engineer – Chassis

About the role

The Chassis Design Engineering team at Tesla develops tires, wheels, hubs, half‑shafts, steering, suspension, subframes, brakes, pedals, controls and air‑suspension systems for passenger cars and heavy vehicles. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will take these systems from concept through production, working closely with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise component designs using 3D CAD tools and associated CAE analysis.
• Validate manufacturing, assembly and service feasibility and release 2D drawings and documentation.
• Perform component testing, validation and vehicle‑assembly verification.
• Resolve technical issues with engineering, supply‑chain, production and service teams.
• Participate in supplier sourcing, manage engineering relationships and ensure timely delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (CATIA preferred) and basic GD&T knowledge.
• Experience in component design, analysis and validation.
• Strong technical and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self‑starter attitude with a track record of completing projects.
