Mechanic - Truck Class 8 Highway

About the role

The company seeks a safety‑sensitive mechanic to maintain and repair its Class 8 highway trucks and crushing equipment. The position involves preventative maintenance, inspections, and occasional travel to multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, pre‑shift inspections, and repairs on mobile equipment and company vehicles.
• Maintain the crushing and mobile equipment fleet, including welding, brazing, and cutting as needed.
• Communicate repair needs with the shop and complete any additional duties assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; three years of heavy‑equipment mechanical experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record; CDL beneficial.
• Pass drug screen, criminal background check, and possibly DOT physical or MSHA certification.

Required skills

• Welding, brazing, and cutting.
• Use of Cat ET program for troubleshooting and calibration.
• Reading electrical schematic diagrams.
• Repair of diesel/gas engines, transmissions, torque converters, differentials, brake, AC, fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Engine, transmission, differential, and torque converter removal and installation.
• Proficiency with hand tools, air tools, and precision measuring instruments.
