MD/DO Principal Investigator Consultant (1099)

About the role

Hawthorne Health is seeking an experienced MD or DO to serve as the Principal Investigator for a new research site in Lebanon, Tennessee. This 1099 contract position will lead clinical investigations, ensuring high‑quality data collection and patient safety while supporting Hawthorne’s community‑based trial model.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of clinical trials at the site, adhering to study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, and FDA regulations.
• Lead and supervise the research team, including sub‑investigators, coordinators, and support staff.
• Conduct remote reviews of patient assessments, physical exams, medical histories, and eligibility screenings.
• Interpret laboratory results, ECGs, and other diagnostics to make critical medical decisions.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation and data entry for all study activities.
• Communicate with sponsors, CROs, IRBs, and regulatory authorities.
• Manage investigational product accountability, storage, and administration.
• Participate in site initiation, monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor (M.D. or D.O.) degree from an accredited institution with a current, unrestricted medical license.
• Experience as a Principal Investigator on at least three sponsor‑initiated clinical trials.
• Board certification in a relevant specialty is preferred.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
