Materials Scientist – ALD Coating Technology

About the role

Seeking passionate ALD subject‑matter experts to join the high‑performing ALD Coating Technology team within the Materials Center of Excellence. The role is a visible expert position, driving productization from ideation through commercialization and ensuring successful ramp at customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic decisions for development of ALD coatings in both hardware and process within the Materials Center of Excellence.
• Contribute to new chamber architecture and component development for next‑generation semiconductor and display products.
• Interface with senior engineering, productivity, supply‑chain and operations leadership to deliver innovative coating solutions that improve device performance, yield and cost of ownership.
• Collaborate with customers to resolve complex engineering issues and address High Value Problems.
• Generate internal and external documentation, technical reports, presentations and engineering specifications.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in ALD coatings and related hardware development (or equivalent).
• BS in Engineering (Masters or Ph.D. preferred).
• Proven ability to drive innovative materials methods, perform hardware characterization and manage material engineering projects.
• Strong problem‑solving, leadership and communication skills, with a fast‑learning, outcome‑oriented mindset.

Required skills

• Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) coating processes (metals, oxides, fluorides).
• Materials characterization techniques (in‑situ and ex‑situ measurements).
• Surface chemistry and interactions in semiconductor and plasma environments.
• Failure analysis and corrosion/erosion assessment of materials.
• Hardware characterization of complex systems.
