Materials Project Manager III – OBS Focal

About the role

The Materials Project Manager III OBS Focal will forecast and communicate engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers, coordinate demand signals through MRP, and develop and execute material strategies for new product introductions. The role works closely with engineering, sourcing, and quality teams to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast and communicate engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers.
• Perform make‑versus‑buy analysis and provide input to outsourcing decisions.
• Coordinate demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
• Lead the Materials Core Team and manage product development deliverables across buyers, planners, and production control.
• Assist in supplier price and delivery negotiations and conduct supplier risk assessments.
• Manage the materials change‑control process, track landed‑cost targets, and publish key process indicators.

Required profile

• Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in materials and manufacturing disciplines.
• Understands best practices and how the materials function integrates with engineering, sourcing, and quality.
• Leads small projects, solves complex problems, and influences cross‑functional teams.
• Communicates difficult information clearly and builds consensus across stakeholders.

Required skills

• Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
• Ability to conduct make‑versus‑buy and cost‑analysis studies.
• Proficiency in supplier risk assessment and KPI tracking.
