Materials General Foreman

About the role

The Materials General Foreman oversees field material operations and supports the Materials Manager in inventory control, logistics coordination, and material distribution. This role ensures that materials are received, stored, tracked, and delivered efficiently to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily material handling and logistics across job sites, yards, and warehouses.
• Assist the Materials Manager in planning and executing material control strategies.
• Track inventory, receipts, issues, and transfers using Excel and company systems.
• Monitor material usage to reduce waste and avoid shortages or overstock.
• Coordinate deliveries, pickups, and transportation of materials and equipment.
• Oversee loading/unloading activities and enforce proper handling procedures.
• Maintain organized storage areas, yards, and warehouses.
• Lead material handlers, drivers, and support personnel.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with project teams, vendors, and logistics providers to resolve discrepancies.

Required profile

• 5‑10+ years of experience in materials management, warehousing, or logistics, preferably in construction or industrial settings.
• Previous leadership or foreman‑level experience.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and team‑leadership skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (tracking, reporting, data management).
• Experience with inventory or ERP systems.
