Materials Engineering Co‑op (TCAD Modeling) – Fall 2026

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in semiconductor and advanced display equipment, is seeking a co‑op to join its VSE strategic marketing group in Gloucester, MA for the Fall 2026 term. The role supports patterning and implant applications, advancing doping processes and material properties through precise materials engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with implant material processing groups to process and measure wafers, model and simulate processes, analyze results, and document findings.
• Participate in development projects involving wafer processing and metrology, presenting updates in group meetings.
• Support process engineering through procurement, shipping samples, and tracking inventory functions.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related semiconductor field.
• In good academic standing with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Hands‑on expertise with thin‑film characterization techniques such as ellipsometry, electrical IV/CV measurements, FTIR, microscopy and mechanical properties testing.
• Familiarity with modeling methodologies like FEM and Monte Carlo simulations; TCAD experience highly preferred.
• Knowledge of modeling automation techniques is a plus.
