Materials and Processes Engineer

About the role

The Materials & Processes Engineer will support a space program in Houston, providing expert guidance on material and process requirements for both intravehicular (IVA) and extravehicular (EVA) environments.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on material selection, process control, qualification, corrosion prevention, electrical bonding, flammability, and toxic off‑gassing for space hardware.
• Review and develop hardware designs, hazard analyses, anomaly resolutions, and flight acceptance testing.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to program boards.
• Translate M&P system requirements into verification and validation plans.
• Ensure program specifications incorporate appropriate material requirements.
• Assess vendor processes, recommend qualification and acceptance testing, and support inspection and manufacturing for human spaceflight systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of recent related experience and 7 years overall in materials and processes.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
• Strong knowledge of materials and processes for space applications, including metallic and non‑metallic specifications, testing, and drawing review.
• Effective written and verbal communication with the ability to assess technical risks.
