Master Mechanic (A Tech) - Budget Truck

About the role

Avis Budget Group is hiring immediately for a Master Mechanic (A Tech) to support Budget Truck operations. The role involves diagnosing and repairing complex issues on newer cargo vans and box trucks across multiple brands, so that trucks stay safe, dependable and available for customers. Pay is $30 per hour, with factors such as geography, market, skills, education and experience that may affect starting pay.

Key responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex mechanical repairs, including warranty work, on a fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision.
• Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning and onboard computer systems.
• Act as a technical expert and mentor to other technicians, supporting diagnostics, repair strategies and best practices.
• Drive Budget Trucks on public roads for testing, repair verification or transport needs.

Required profile

• Valid driver's license (Class A, B or C).
• Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive or truck repair experience.
• Current ASE certifications (at least 3), with the ability to obtain 2 more within the first year; strong knowledge of engine repair, drivetrain, suspension/steering, brakes, electrical, heating/air conditioning, engine performance and light vehicle/diesel.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and near a moderately noisy mechanical shop.
• Complete set of tools for automotive and truck repair, basic computer skills (typing and data entry), and ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work.
• At least 21 years old, legally authorized to work in the United States, and able to obtain DOT medical clearance.
• Regular on-site presence; previous OEM experience is preferred.
