Master Mechanic (A Tech) - Budget Truck

About the role

Avis Budget Group is hiring immediately for a Master Mechanic (A Tech) to support Budget Truck operations. The role involves performing standard and complex mechanical repairs, including warranty work, on a fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision, so that trucks stay safe, dependable and available for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning and onboard computer systems
• Act as a technical expert and mentor to other technicians, supporting diagnostics, repair strategies and best practices
• Drive Budget Trucks on public roads for testing, repair verification or transport needs

Required profile

• Valid driver's license (Class A, B or C)
• At least 3 years of professional automotive or truck repair experience
• Current ASE certifications (at least 3), with the ability to obtain 2 more within the first year
• Strong knowledge of ASE areas such as engine repair, drivetrain/axles, suspension/steering, brakes, electrical, heating/air conditioning, engine performance and light vehicle/diesel
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and near a moderately noisy mechanical shop
• Complete set of tools for automotive and truck repair, basic computer skills, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• At least 21 years old, legally authorized to work in the United States, and able to obtain DOT medical clearance
• Regular on-site presence; previous OEM experience is preferred
