Marine Quality Engineer

About the role
Saronic Technologies is seeking a detail‑oriented Marine Quality Engineer to support the building, integration, and testing of autonomous surface vessels. The role focuses on maintaining the highest quality standards across shipyard operations, from hull fabrication to sea trials.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain quality assurance protocols for shipyard processes including fabrication, assembly, outfitting and testing.
- Perform inspections to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, regulatory/military standards and customer requirements.
- Identify and drive process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency and reliability.
- Oversee critical inspections of welding, mechanical, electrical systems and overall systems integration.
- Support harbor and sea‑trial activities by verifying system readiness and quality compliance.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports on quality performance, non‑conformances and corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, regulatory and military standards and stay current with evolving requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, production and program teams to resolve quality issues and contribute to design improvements.
- Train shipyard personnel and inspectors on quality requirements and inspection tools.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a related technical field.
- 3–5 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance or related roles within shipbuilding, defense or complex manufacturing environments.
- Advanced degrees or certifications in quality engineering, welding inspection or maritime standards (e.g., AWS, ASQ, NDT Level II/III) are a plus.
