Marine Designer/Drafter

About the role

We are looking for a Marine Designer/Drafter to join Saronic Technologies in New Orleans and help develop autonomous surface vessels. You will work on both traditional ship design and cutting‑edge autonomous technologies, contributing directly to defense‑related maritime innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D models and technical drawings for new vessel construction.
• Create, modify, and maintain ship construction drawings to strict standards.
• Collaborate with naval architects, marine engineers, and electrical engineers on design implementation.
• Ensure compliance with marine regulatory documentation and construction tolerances.
• Maintain rigorous drawing standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional CAD drafting experience.
• Solid fundamentals in at least one vessel‑design discipline (general, mechanical, electrical, structural, or piping).
• Familiarity with maritime regulatory requirements and vessel construction processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software such as NX, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD, and Rhino.
