Marine Corps Judge Advocate (Attorney)

About the role
The United States Marine Corps is seeking qualified attorneys to serve as Judge Advocates. As a Marine attorney you will provide legal support to the nation’s elite fighting force, representing service members in court, advising commanders, and delivering legal assistance to families.
Key responsibilities
- Criminal Litigation: Represent the United States or United States Marines in federal court and administrative proceedings.
- In‑House Counsel: Advise military leadership on litigation, government ethics, operational law, internal investigations, government relations, and administrative matters.
- Legal Assistance: Provide legal services to Marines, Sailors, and their families, including estate planning, landlord‑tenant disputes, and family law.
- Operational & International Law: Deploy with operational units to offer real‑time advice on rules of engagement, the law of armed conflict, and international agreements.
Required profile
- Score above required thresholds on a mental aptitude test (e.g., >1000 SAT, 22 ACT, 74 ASVAB, and LSAT).
- Accepted to or currently attending an accredited law school (J.D.).
- Competitive physical fitness meeting Marine Corps standards.
- Admitted to a State Bar or scheduled to sit for the Bar Exam upon graduation.
