Manufacturing Quality Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Manager to lead the quality and inspection organization for its Tempe Spares manufacturing site. The role ensures products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing quality activities to achieve target first‑pass yield, reduce scrap, rework and customer escapes.
• Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve process, material, machining, coating and product quality issues.
• Manage incoming, in‑process and final inspection, including dimensional inspection, CMM and precision metrology.
• Investigate complex quality problems using 8D, 5‑Why, FMEA, SPC and drive corrective actions.
• Serve as primary contact for customer complaints, lead corrective actions and support audits.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, internal QMS and lead internal, customer and third‑party audits.
• Coach and develop Quality Engineers and Technicians, set performance expectations and manage staffing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Materials Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of manufacturing quality or quality engineering experience, preferably in precision manufacturing.
• 5+ years of leadership or people‑management experience.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional inspection and precision measurement equipment.
• Experience with ISO 9001, QMS, CAPA, 8D, FMEA, SPC and continuous improvement methodologies.
