Manufacturing Process Engineer

About the role

Fluorotherm Polymers Inc. is seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Process Engineer to support and improve plastics extrusion operations, contribute to R&D, and assist with custom heat‑exchanger projects. The role is ideal for a mechanical or chemical engineer with 2–3 years of experience who enjoys troubleshooting and implementing practical improvements on the production floor.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and recommend new quality‑control equipment and measurement technologies.
• Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train operators on inspection protocols.
• Review and approve inspection reports, maintain and calibrate QC tools such as pins, plugs, calipers, micrometers and Keyence systems.
• Troubleshoot and improve extrusion processes, diagnose and repair line components including calibrators, vacuum‑tank parts and in‑line measurement systems.
• Identify opportunities to increase throughput, reduce scrap and improve consistency.
• Translate customer inquiries into technical designs for heat‑exchanger projects and support quoting with preliminary engineering concepts.
• Generate and issue Manufacturing Orders and collaborate with production teams to ensure successful execution.
• Conduct R&D on new and existing polymer resins, explore AI‑driven and advanced tools to boost quality and efficiency, and support medical‑specialty product development.
• Document new processes and standardize them through SOPs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in plastics extrusion.
• Working knowledge of quality‑control processes and measurement tools.
• Hands‑on problem‑solving ability in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with operators and production teams.
