Manufacturing Engineer – Joining Process

About the role

Tesla Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering seeks a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to develop and scale joining processes for new vehicle programs. You will work closely with Structures Design and CAE teams to ensure manufacturability from concept through full production.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with design engineering to support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) early in the product cycle.
• Design, commission, and ramp high‑speed automated joining equipment, validating equipment and processes.
• Plan and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) to characterize process boundaries and optimize quality.
• Lead equipment installation, commissioning, and production line ramp‑up, coordinating with partner vendors.
• Develop quality control plans, PFMEA, and dimensional improvement plans to meet joining quality targets.
• Prepare final documentation packages for long‑term line sustainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
• 2+ years experience developing and launching welding or mechanical joining processes in automotive or electronics.
• Strong independent work ethic, detail‑orientation, and ability to make decisions.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

• Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• AutoCAD, CATIA 3DX (or similar CAD tools).
