About the role
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the implementation of new tooling, processes and automation for our autonomous surface vessels. The role bridges design, quality, ship‑build and production teams to move from low‑rate to high‑volume manufacturing.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and qualify manufacturing processes and tooling for Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs).
- Collaborate with engineering, quality and production to ensure efficiency and compliance with product specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input for vessel construction.
- Prepare documentation, technical reports and regulatory submissions.
- Onboard and integrate new automated manufacturing assets, working with software and production engineering.
- Drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing floor, applying lean and Six Sigma methods.
- Identify and resolve emerging manufacturing challenges, including travel to suppliers as needed.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in an indoor/outdoor shipyard environment, including work aloft and in confined spaces.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities, with capacity to manage multiple projects.
- Commitment to shipyard safety policies and proper use of PPE.
Required skills
- Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software (Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX).
- Experience interpreting technical drawings, GD&T, weld symbols and fabrication tolerances.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, welding and aluminum fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
