Manufacturing Engineer I – Entry Level

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to develop and maintain manufacturing methods, process flows, and assembly procedures for semiconductor equipment. You will collaborate with design, operations, quality, and supply‑chain teams to ensure new products are manufacturable, cost‑effective, and meet quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and maintain manufacturing methods, process flows, and work instructions for parts, modules, and final systems.
• Support product transition from Engineering to Manufacturing, ensuring scalability, quality, and cost targets.
• Implement Engineering Change Orders, process updates, and configuration management activities.
• Apply DFx methodologies (DFM, DFA, DFC) to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Analyze processes using Lean and Continuous Improvement principles to reduce cycle time and enhance capacity.
• Collect and interpret manufacturing, quality, and test data to drive root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or New Product Introduction.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering documentation, and production operations.

Required skills

• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement.
• Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
• ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Statistical analysis tools and process capability studies.
• PFMEA, DFMEA, control plans, root‑cause analysis (8D, 5‑Why, Fishbone, Pareto).
• Green Belt certification (preferred).
