Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer – Milling

About the role

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer specialized in milling to join its Prismatic Manufacturing team in Buffalo, NY. You will help transition operations to a next‑generation Advanced Integrated Manufacturing (AIM) facility, working on both new product development and continuous improvement of existing aerospace components.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise CNC mill machining processes for new and legacy components.
• Create detailed CNC programs and manufacturing instructions that meet strict engineering specifications.
• Define operation sequences, tooling, gauging, and machine requirements for precision part fabrication.
• Troubleshoot shop‑floor issues including tooling, gauging, work‑holding and inspection challenges.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve manufacturing problems and improve producibility.
• Produce operation sheets and NC programs for high‑precision machined parts and sub‑assemblies.
• Review engineering drawings for manufacturability and recommend design improvements.
• Assist in creating machine‑ready code, perform program prove‑outs, and support production troubleshooting.
• Estimate setup/run times and tooling hours to contribute to cost estimates for new business proposals.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 3+ years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of associate degree/experience or high‑school diploma with 8+ years.
• Proficiency in CNC mill machining.
• 3+ years of CNC programming experience using CAD/CAM software.
• Hands‑on experience with machine setup and operation.
