Manufacturing Engineer – CMP

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions that enable every new semiconductor chip and advanced display. The Manufacturing Engineer – CMP will develop and maintain fabrication methods, work with cross‑functional teams, and drive cost‑effective, high‑quality production of components and assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain methods, operating sequences, and processes for parts, components, sub‑assemblies, and final assemblies.
• Coordinate release of product improvements and new products with other engineering functions.
• Apply Design for Excellence (DFx) principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing and product costs while improving quality.
• Determine time standards and recommend tooling and process requirements.
• Develop test procedures, evaluate results, and assess work methods, procedures, and policies.
• Identify root causes, perform Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and provide corrective‑action reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong conceptual knowledge and technical experience for everyday problem‑solving.
• Ability to clearly explain complex technical information.

Required skills

• CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization) background or knowledge.
• Lean manufacturing principles.
• Automation and continuous improvement techniques.
• Design for Excellence (DFx) methodology.
• Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
• Test procedure development and evaluation.
