Manufacturing Automation Lead Engineer

About the role

Moog’s Defense Sector is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Lead Engineer to design, develop and support automated manufacturing cells and systems. The role is based onsite in East Aurora, NY and will work closely with engineering and operations teams to drive cost‑effective automation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, develop and recommend automation systems that improve cost savings and throughput for current and future factories.
• Design and implement robotics, industrial controls, machine vision, material handling, automation networking and automated assembly solutions.
• Specify and procure automation capital equipment, balancing technology capabilities with ROI.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external integrators to execute projects.
• Support ongoing manufacturing improvement activities involving automation components.
• Provide maintenance, troubleshooting and repair for automation software and hardware.
• Minimize production impact while introducing new automation processes.
• Travel as needed for research, development and installation of systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on experience with industrial controls integration.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross‑functional matrix organization.
