Manufacturing Automation & Controls Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Manufacturing Automation & Controls Engineer to join its Engineering team in Fort Worth, TX. The role focuses on improving equipment uptime, quality, safety, and productivity through automation enhancements, root‑cause analysis, and process optimization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead continuous‑improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing principles to boost Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce downtime.
• Analyze equipment performance data, conduct root‑cause investigations, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and validate test procedures, manage project budgets, and supervise contractors for automation upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and support PLC, HMI, VFD, vision, and industrial networking systems, primarily Allen‑Bradley platforms.
• Assist with programming modifications, system testing, validation, and startup activities for new or modernized equipment.

Required profile

• Associate‑level General Engineering professional capable of handling complex technical tasks.
• Experience with continuous‑improvement initiatives and equipment reliability programs.
• Ability to work across operations, maintenance, and engineering teams as a technical liaison.
