Manager, Sponsored Data and Portfolio Management

About the role

The Manager of Sponsored Data and Portfolio Management leads operational intelligence, portfolio management, and workforce planning for Georgetown University's sponsored research enterprise. Reporting to the Senior Director of Sponsored Projects Financial Operations, the role combines data‑driven planning with hands‑on management of a portfolio of research awards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop operational reporting, dashboards, and portfolio tracking tools to support data‑driven decision‑making.
• Support process‑improvement, automation, predictive‑analytics, and Grants Management System (GMS) enhancement initiatives.
• Collaborate with SPFO leadership and operational teams to strengthen workflow coordination and business continuity.
• Maintain direct responsibility for a designated portfolio of sponsored awards, including sponsor billing, financial reporting, award setup review, and closeout activities.
• Provide customer service and operational guidance to faculty, principal investigators, departmental administrators, and research support staff.
• Assist with audit readiness, sponsor reviews, and strategic operational initiatives across SPFO.

Required profile

• Experience in operational intelligence, portfolio management, or workforce planning within a research or higher‑education environment.
• Hands‑on technical expertise in managing sponsored award finances, billing, and reporting.
• Ability to work as a matrix leader, coordinating across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on process optimization and data‑driven planning.
